Iranian medical technology company Behin Med has unveiled the Iranian Clinical AI Platform, known as “Behin ICU Assist AI,” describing it as the country's first domestically developed clinical artificial intelligence system for intensive care units (ICUs). The platform integrates with Iranian-made ventilators and analyzes critical patient data to support clinical decision-making, reduce potential medical errors, and improve the quality of care for critically ill patients.

Behin Med, an Iranian knowledge-based company specializing in the design and manufacture of advanced medical equipment, has introduced its latest innovation in healthcare technology. The Iranian Clinical AI Platform, developed under the name “Behin ICU Assist AI,” follows the company’s successful development and commercialization of its Behsa100 intensive care ventilators.

Recognized as a Type 1 Technology-Based Knowledge-Based Company under Iran’s national classification system, Behin Med has developed this technology to integrate artificial intelligence with domestically manufactured respiratory equipment, creating opportunities for intelligent clinical decision-support systems in hospital intensive care units.

The Iranian Clinical AI Platform connects directly to the Behsa100 ventilator, collecting respiratory information and analyzing patients’ clinical conditions alongside demographic data, hemodynamic parameters, laboratory results, and medication records.

The system receives clinical information through hospital information systems (HIS), as well as voice and text inputs. Using internationally recognized medical guidelines, it analyzes patient data and generates recommendations to assist healthcare professionals in making informed clinical decisions.

One of the platform’s key features is an interactive AI-powered chatbot that supports both voice and text communication. This functionality enables physicians to engage in two-way conversations with the system, examine suggested treatment strategies, question the reasoning behind recommendations, and compare individual patients with similar clinical cases.

According to its developers, the Iranian Clinical AI Platform is designed to help reduce diagnostic and treatment errors, accelerate the interpretation of complex clinical information, and support critical decision-making in intensive care environments.

Other intended applications include optimizing mechanical ventilation settings, assisting physicians in assessing patients’ readiness for ventilator weaning, and potentially reducing the length of stay in intensive care units.

The developers believe the technology could improve access to specialized critical care knowledge, particularly in underserved regions and hospitals with limited access to intensive care specialists.

By providing access to standardized clinical guidelines and evidence-based recommendations, the platform aims to support healthcare professionals in delivering consistent and effective care across different medical facilities.

From an economic perspective, AI-powered clinical decision-support systems could help reduce healthcare expenditure through improved patient management, shorter hospital stays, and more efficient use of medical resources. However, these potential benefits will require clinical validation and real-world performance assessments.

The unveiling of the Iranian Clinical AI Platform also marks a step forward in the development of domestically produced digital health technologies. Combining Iranian-made ventilators with intelligent data-analysis software creates new opportunities for developing next-generation medical devices and advanced healthcare solutions.

The introduction of this technology comes as artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in healthcare worldwide, particularly in clinical data analysis, medical decision support, patient monitoring, and critical care management.

With the introduction of Behin ICU Assist AI, Behin Med aims to expand its activities beyond respiratory equipment manufacturing into intelligent medical technologies.

Subject to successful clinical validation and the necessary regulatory approvals, the Iranian Clinical AI Platform could support the wider adoption of artificial intelligence in intensive care units across Iranian hospitals.
